CONGRATULATIONS!!
Abbie Brashier is the daughter of Bobby and Lucy Brashier. She was the editor-in-chief of the Indian Echo Yearbook Staff, president of the senior class, president of the Business and Law Club and Mock Trial team, a member of National Honor Society, and a Diamond Girl. In the past, Brashier was a member of Mu Alpha Theta, Quill and Scroll Honor Society, National Business Honor Society, Key Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a student of concert pianist ,Bob Moody, and a member at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. She received the Most Outstanding Student Council Award her junior year, the Rookie of the Year Award for yearbook staff, the Leadership Award at the 2014 yearbook camp, the Most Effective Attorney Award for the 2015 Mock Trial competition, the Most Effective Witness Award for the 2016 Mock Trial competition, and admitted to the Lott Leadership class of 2020. In ten years, she plans to have a have a master’s in Public Policy Leadership and be a recent graduate of law school. The one person who inspired her the most was Mr. Fowler because he saw the leader in her. She showed pride by always supporting the sports teams as well as the clubs at BHS. BHS has taught her that at any point, you have the power to change the direction of your future. After high school, Brashier plans to attend the University of Mississippi and major in Public Policy Leadership at the Lott Leadership Institute.
James Erwin is the son of Clara Erwin. He served was President of HOSA, captain of the track team, a member of National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, and certified in CPR and First Aid Training. In the past, he was captain of the cross country team, a player for the BHS soccer team and travel team, a member of key club, and blood donor for the Red Cross. Jimmy received the Most Valuable Runner award for cross-country twice, the Most Valuable Distance Runner award for track, the Dual-Credit Conservative Biology Award, and the Most Valuable Player award for the Junior Varsity Soccer Team. In ten years, he plans to be working as a cardiologist, helping save lives. The one person who inspired him most was Ms. Sumrall because she was not only a teacher, but also a friend. He showed school pride by dressing up as Woody from Toy Story and being cheerful at every pep rally. BHS has taught James that anything is possible if you set your mind to it. After high school, Erwin plans to attend the University of South Alabama and major in pre-med.
Danielle Lyons is the daughter of Barry Lyons and Marsha Gaines. She was a member of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, National Business Honor Society, Rho Kappa Honor Society, and served as Student Body Vice President. In the past, Lyons was chairman of homecoming committee, a diamond girl, a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Mock Trial, the Biloxi High Student Leadership Team, and a Hissy Fit Boutique Sales Associate. Danielle received the Most Distinguished Student Council Member award, the Excellence in Advanced Placement Language and Composition award, the Freshman Academic Excellence Scholarship for Mississippi State, placed 3rd regionally in the stock market game, and was an Advanced Placement Honor Scholar for AP Statistics. In ten years, she plans to have graduated from medical school and be a dermatologist. The one person who inspired her the most was Mrs. Strickland because she always pushed her to be the best that she could be. Lyons showed school pride by attending every home and away baseball and football game no matter how far away they were. BHS has taught her to be nice to everyone because you never know how many amazing people you can meet outside your circle. After high school, Danielle plans to attend Mississippi State University and major in biological sciences with a concentration on pre-med.
Abbigail Mattfeld is the daughter of Peter and Barbara Mattfeld. She was Secretary of the National Honor Society, a member of Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society, Key Club, Mu Alpha Theta, and a volunteer at the Margaret S. Sherry Memorial Library. In the past, Mattfeld was a member of the Biloxi High School Varsity and Symphonic Band, Indoor Percussion Ensemble, and the annual Gulf Coast Band Director Association Gold Band. She received the excellence in Algebra I, Biology I, English I, World Geography, AP Biology, Algebra II, U.S. History, English III, Marine Biology, Chemistry, Geometry, Latin II, Astronomy, Dual Credit Algebra, Dual Credit Trigonometry, the BHS Advanced Placement Honor Scholar Award, and perfect scores on Algebra I, Biology I, and U.S. History state exams, Most outstanding Freshman Band Member, Most Improved Percussionist, and Most Outstanding Sophomore Band Member. In ten years, she plans to be at a point in her career, where all of her time and effort have paid off, and she can happily help people or maybe even save lives for a living. The one person who inspired her most was Dr. Chesman because of her lively teaching methods and high expectations for her students and always encouraging her to do better and to be the best that she could be. She showed school pride by performing in the BHS band at football games and participating in school activities such as spirit and red ribbon week. BHS has taught her, to be more sociable and to branch out more. After high school, Mattfeld plans to attend the University of North Carolina and major in biomedical studies.
Alexis McDaniel is the daughter of Terrell and Dr. Sheneatha McDaniel. She was the captain of the basketball team, a member of the cross-country and track teams, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the Zeta-Archonettes Youth Auxiliary Group. In the past, she was a member of Mu Alpha Theta, House of Praise dance team, National Junior Honor Society, and G.R.A.D.S. Alexis received the Most Valuable Runner award for track, the Coach’s award for basketball and cross country, the 6th-man award for basketball, and a cross country/ track scholarship from Xavier University of Louisiana. In ten years, she plans to be well into her career and starting her future while giving back to her community. The one person who inspired her most was her coach because he told her to be confident in herself and learn to be tough mentally. She showed school pride by supporting the athletics teams at most games and participating in pep rallies. BHS has taught Alexis to never give up on herself and that she can complete any task given to her. After high school, McDaniel plans to attend the University of Louisiana and major in pharmacy.
Chuc Tran is the daughter of Hai Tran and Cuc Danh. She was the President of Key Club, Vice President of Mu Alpha Theta, Treasurer of National Honor Society, Student Body Treasurer, and a member of Rho Kappa Honor Society. In the past, Tran was Key Club Secretary, HOSA Secretary, a member of Student to Student, the philharmonic orchestra, Mary C. O’Keefe Youth Symphony, Rockestra Revolution, and a Biloxi Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program graduate. She received the Excellence in Geometry Award, Excellence in English II Award, and the presidential scholarship for South Alabama. In ten years, Chuc plans to complete college and further establish her career in internal medicine. The one person who most inspired her the most was Mr. Fowler because he inspired her to pursue her education and to achieve her life-long goals. BHS has taught her to overcome any obstacles and establish her sense of self through a variety of opportunities. After high school, Chuc plans to attend the University of South Alabama and major in biomedical sciences.
